IBD Managing Director Ian Smith was a VIP visitor during May 2017 to Daikin’s Technology and Innovation Centre (TIC) at its Yodogawa Plant, Settsu City, Japan. Operations started there in November 2015 and the facility functions as the centre for technology development of the global Daikin Group.
Daikin’s core technologies include heat pumps, inverters and fluorochemicals. The TIC facility is located in a six -floor building covering 49,000 m2 floor space and employing 700 people. It helps Daikin accelerate implementation of collaborative creation on a global level through alliances and collaborations with various companies, universities and research organisations.
Many design innovations have been incorporated in the TIC office and laboratory areas to promote a collaborative creation environment for engineers. The building uses Daikin Technologies to achieve a zero energy building. Ian Smith comments: “The TIC underlines Daikin’s world leading technology credentials. As Daikin UK’s Specialist Renewables distributor, it was an honour for IBD to have the opportunity to visit this world leading facility.”
